A brief look at the month of January

Welcome to the beginning of 2015! Finally, Water succeeds the throne in the heavens! We enter a year ruled by Air, the 8^th orb on the tree of life! This is an energy ruled by Mercury and Raphael. Raphael encourages us to heal from the inside out. Mercury inspires our mind to grow and expand. He gives us clarity in the mind and provides an avenue to apply lessons learned from the prior 7 year of 2014. We will have a blog more on this later.

Astrologically, we begin the year with some dynamic energies and squares all over the place. Squares are the energies of tension, something has to give.  These energies are very beneficial too; they get the ball rolling and force us out of complacent behaviors or situations. Interesting how they are all happening at the beginning of the year a time of transition for everyone!

January 1^st – 4^th is an upheaval of energy. We start the year out with the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and Pluto all in Capricorn, the sign of perceptions, foundation, structure, the need for control. That’s a lot of energy in one place! At this time the Sun and Pluto both square Uranus. So it begins the tug between the old and the new. This is the beginning of some serious deep self examination which will involve some shadow work. It will demand that you turn the mirror on yourself and be your own revolution. That is how we succeed in the 2015. We need to know that not all rules are meant to be broken; it then becomes a question of which ones to keep.  How to do we heal and build ourselves up this year, we start with ourselves. The Uranus energy therefore engages the mind and it truly is higher thinking to become a serious instrument of change.

Venus and Mercury are also creating Trines on the moon in Capricorn. The energies are being that of struggle but hopeful all at the same time. They are tension, but herald hope as well. So it’s rather tempered. How do we do our resolutions? We have to choose something to do, be abstract. Then work backward, but you have to be honest with yourself and decide if it’s something you actually want.

Jupiter is still in Leo and is retrograde at this time. Jupiter retrograde at the beginning of the year is setting the tone for the year. He is telling you that this is going to be a year of growth and expansion from within. Pull back and look at each area, make a plan and do it. The plans need to be congruent with the heart and the mind. Jupiter Retrograde is also wonderful being able to figure out HOW to expand and growth.

January 21^st  begins the Mercury retrograde in Aquarius until Feb. 11^th. Don’t be afraid of the Mercury Retrograde. Steer into this energy and you will prosper. We also have Venus, Sun, and Moon in Aquarius.  There are some strong oppositions and squares again at this time, but how appropriate for a retrograde that is designed to get us on track literally in the mind? Don’t start any new projects at this time! Why? The answer is you have older projects that need done now! Tackle them now and calm waters are ahead of you. We are being impacted by the Pluto-Uranus square. Some real truths are going to emerge during this retrograde. People are going to show who they are, believe them. We are in a proactive year get on board or get lost in the muck.
